Little Scholar

Isabella read her first book today, yes she is a genius. With a mom who's a teacher what do you expect. She was tired after reading and actually took a morning nap.

Baby Shower for Daniel

On Sunday Isabella and I went to a baby shower for Daniel, born March 15 to our friends Andrew and Lisa. Here is a photo of Daniel. There were many little babies there and Daniel was the last of the 5 winter babies to be born.

Whose your daddy/mommy?

I was going through some old photos and found some baby photos of Tony and I. Compare if you will.

Prenatal class baby reunion

On Thursday, April 22nd we went to our prenatal class' baby reunion. It was hosted by a couple from our class. 6 of the 10 couples were there with their babies. There were 3 boys and 3 girls. Isabella is the second oldest. Sophia, sitting on the left, is the oldest. We lined all the babies up to get a photo of them all. Isabella was not at all bothered by all the commotion around her. She's so chill.

Library and Immunizations

Yesterday Isabella, Owen, Julie and I attended the Baby Time Program at the Library. We spent the morning singing baby rhymes (to which I know no lyrics) and hearing three stories read. Isabella slept through the entire thing. Her and Owen were the youngest at 7 and 10 weeks old. There were about 30 babies and moms there. We're looking forward to doing it again next week.

Isabella also got her first immunizations yesterday. Tony and I were prepared for the worst, but overall everything went well. She cried when she got the needle in her thigh, but that was expected. She was fussy on the car ride home, but the shot did not affect her night routine at all. This morning when she woke at 6am she greeted Tony and I with a big smile and giggles. I guess I gave myself an ulcer for nothing. Here's a picture of Isabella smiling for Tony shortly after the needle.

Canada's next top baby model

Since Isabella doesn't really sleep during the day, I find ways to keep us entertained. Sometimes we have fashion shows. I like to put her in different outfits to see what still fits, and what she still needs to grow into. She has lots of clothes, but when at home she just wears sleepers. She can usually get through 3 wardrobe changes before she has meltdown. Here are some photos of some fashion shows, meltdowns included.

Playdate

Yesterday Isabella had a playdate with Aaron, Karen and Rich's little boy. He was born January 7th so Isabella and he are about 1 month apart. Aaron is quite a ladies man and was not too shy to put the moves on Isabella (note the hand holding). Isabella played coy, or maybe she was too hungry at the time to focus on the wooing.

Spring Cleaning

Yesterday Tony and Isabella did some spring cleaning out on our terrace. It is now ready to be enjoyed for the whole summer. There are still a few pieces of furniture we need to add to complete it, but Isabella has already enjoyed the fresh air out there.

Baby BBQ (don't worry, no babies were barbequed, they were just guests)

On Saturday we went to our friends Tim and Michelle's house for an afternoon BBQ. In attendance were 10 adults and 7 children ranging from ages 7 years to 5 weeks (and 34 weeks in utero; Michelle). Isabella must have partied hard because that night she only woke once at night to feed. The extra few hour of sleep were a nice treat for me.

On the way home from the BBQ Isabella let out her first giggle. It was in the elevator on the way up to our condo. I said "Hi Sweetie" and she gave Tony and I the cutest smile followed by a giggle. We were so excited. Since then, I've been walking around saying "Hi Sweetie" all the time, but there has not been a repeat of the giggle. Smiles are always there though, so they tie me over until the next laugh.

Adventures in Babysitting

Today was a day of firsts. First time I've done Bodypump in over a year (I'll feel that tomorrow) and the first time Isabella has been babysat by a non-grandparent. Carol-Ann babysat Isabella while I went to the gym this afternoon. I was worried that Isabella would cry the entire time, but she didn't. I was expecting to come back to a crying baby, but much to my delight, when I walked into Carol-Ann's apartment, Isabella was smiling away while Carol-Ann entertained her. Their afternoon was spent going for a walk to Shoppers Drug Mart. Isabella was in the BabyBjorn which is a sure-fire way to keep a baby whose been fed and diapered nice and quiet. Thanks Carol-Ann for the babysitting!

Back photos

I'm posting some back photos of Isabella. Today she is 9 weeks and 2 days old.

I'm a blogger?

Today Isabella and I set up a blog. Our friends, Julie and Chris do one for their baby boy and I thought it was a great idea. We have family overseas and friends who are out of the country/going out of province and this will be a great way to keep in touch and update them.
