What happens when babies learn to move?...

They cram themselves into the most awkward places.

Rice-a-Tony

This morning Isabella had her first serving of rice cereal. She had some breastmilk as an appetizer and then Tony fed her some cereal before he headed off to work. We're not sure how much she actually ingested because as soon as we put it in her mouth she pushed it out with her tongue. She ended up with more around her mouth, than in her mouth.

We are hoping that solids will be the key to her sleeping more than 4 hours at a time. I'll let everyone know if it is the miracle cure.

BrAnna wedding

Isabella took part in her first wedding preparations. Anna and Brad were married On Sunday, Aug 15th. The preparations began Friday evening with the rehearsal dinner.

Isabella spent 3 nights away at the Delta Hotel in Mississauga. The day of the wedding she had her first sleepover away from Mommy and Daddy. She slept over at her Great Grandma's condo in Burlington. Grandma and Great Grandma fed her, bathed her (more times than mommy and daddy do in a week), and played with her. Too bad I didn't get any photos of the event.

On the day before the wedding the boys went golfing and the girls went to the spa. Isabella's Babcia came to the hotel to watch her.

This baby's getting too used to the hotel life. She's stayed in hotels twice since she's been born.

Here are some photos from the weekend.

I'm 6 months!

Today is Isabella's 6 month birthday. I weighed her on our bathroom scale and she's 14 pounds. I'll have a more accurate weight after she goes for her 6 month checkup. I'm not sure how accurate our bathroom scale is. For some reason it reads really high when I step on it. Odd. It must be broken.

When we visited Tim and Michelle, they lent us their exersaucer, aka "the circle of neglect". Isabella really likes it. She chews on all the attachments. I was reluctant to borrow one because it takes up so much space, but it's the best thing. I used to put Isabella on a mat on the floor, but now that she moves around I would have to go and re-position her too many times. One time she was face first in the cat bowls. Now she's trapped in. Perfect!

ROM: The warrior baby

Last week, Carol-Ann, Anna, Isabella and I went to the ROM to the the Chinese Terracotta Army exhibit. It was interesting to see the warriors. It was quite crowded and hard to navigate with a stroller. Some patrons were more interested in Isabella than the warriors, but that's to be expected with a face like hers. I need to start charging people. That evening Isabella and her dad had an evening together as I went to see Legally Blonde live with Anna and Lisa.

The Pryde's

This past weekend we went to visit our friends Tim and Michelle and their children James and Olivia. Olivia is about 8 weeks old. It was a while since we had seen her. There is 4 months difference between Olivia and Isabella. Tony and I couldn't believe how much things change in 4 months. We remember when the most strenuous thing Isabella did was blink, and now she reaches moves and makes noise (but still doesn't sleep). Here are some photos from our visit. James loves to help his mom by vacuuming and he's only 20 months old. He'll make a wonderful husband one day.

Almost crawling

Isabella is on the move. We think she'll be crawling in no time. Yikes! When we place her on her activity mat, she reverses off of it and ends up in another part of the room. She pushes herself up on her arms and this causes her to slide backwards. It might take her some time to figure the crawl out because of our slippery floors. Here are some photos of her getting into crawl position. She can tuck her legs under.

Isabella and friends

Isabella had a very busy social life this past week. On Wednesday she went to visit a friend named Ryland. Ryland is 9 months old and loves carrots. Her mom gave Isabella 2 bags of clothes. Thanks Jenn!

Friday she had a picnic with Owen and Amira. No photos, but a good time had by all.

On Saturday the whole family went to Balsam Lake provincial park. We packed our lunch and met our friends Steve, Sandy and their kids Liam and Julianna. Beth and Dave were also there with their son Callum. Callum and Isabella are about 1 week apart. Callum and Isabella got snuggly in the sun tent together.

Isabella also spent some time petting Maui. He's getting better and better at interacting with her. We think he'll make a great companion as Isabella gets older.
